Vince Battaglia heads The Battery Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). The Group consists of 11 experts in battery science ranging from computational material search, material synthesis and characterization, advanced diagnostics, to battery design. Dr. Battaglia received his degree in Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley. His research interests span from macroscopic modeling of battery systems to electrode fabrication practices to battery design for the grid. Recently, at LBNL, his work has focused on the fabrication of thick electrodes using standard Li-ion battery materials and processing techniques and understanding the effects of solvent and solids content and processing procedures on final electrode performance. Vince has contributed to over 135 refereed journal articles, holds 10 patents, and is the co-author of three text books in Applied Calculus, Thermodynamics, and Transport Phenomena.
