Sungbin Kim is a helicopter pilot (Captain) in the Republic of Korea Army Aviation and currently a student in the Defense AI Program at Chung-Ang University. He graduated from Sejong University in 2021 with a degree in AI Robotics and served as a 500MD pilot in the 21st Aviation Group under the 2nd Operational Command from 2022 to March 2025. Since March 2025, he has been conducting research in computer vision applications for military use. His research focuses on the development of deep learning-based friend-or-foe identification models for military aircraft. Drawing from his operational experience, he aims to integrate AI-based visual recognition systems to improve pilot decision-making and minimize identification errors in complex combat scenarios.
